Why We Do What We Do
At RBK Consulting, our mission is rooted in a personal journey that shapes every project we undertake. For families whose lives revolve around caregiving – especially parents of children with special needs – there exists an immense emotional and practical weight. The responsibilities of navigating inaccessible spaces can lead to stress, frustrations, and feelings of helplessness.
We recognise this struggle because we live it ourselves. Our daughter Rose has an acute form of Celebral Palsy (CP), and each day we navigate the complexities of accessibility in South Africa. Our experiences have highlighted a significant gap in the accessibility construction industry: spaces that claim to be “accessible” often fall short, with minimal accommodations like a single ramp that don’t address the comprehensive needs of families like ours.
This understanding sparked our commitment to change. Armed with over 16 years of construction and renovation experience, Eugene Kruger founded RBK Consulting to make a meaningful difference across South Africa. Our goal is to utilize construction expertise alongside lived experience to help parents and organizations build or renovate spaces where comfort and accessibility intertwine, allowing caregivers to navigate their environments with ease alongside their loved ones.
